A Vampire is someone who consumes energy from a source, whether it is from blood (as in the case of a blood vampire), or from feeding off other people's energy (such as PSI vampires). PSI vampires don't need to consume blood. By being around other people, they can drain other people of their energy just by being near them. It is possible for non-vampires to "feel" if someone is feeding from them, or from someone else. However, for some reason only a few people can do this. Most vampires can detect someone PSI feeding from others, just as vampires can detect other vampires when they are around. The difference is that Vampires are mortal, whereas Vampyres are immortal.

A Vampyre is normally referred to as the "Immortal" vampire; Vampires that live for hundreds or thousands of years. The Classical, Genetic and Inheritor Vampires are called Vampyres. This is where the difference between a Vampire and Vampyre is. A Vampire is mortal. For example, the Sanguinarian, PSI and Emotional vampires don't live much longer than 100 years.
