I would also like to request that you use a spellchecker on your posts, as well as proper grammar.

your right on all accounts I've never been good with Grammar or spelling and the wall of quotes i just was lazy sorry :duh:

I need that book!". I think I have a problem. >.>

Well, after we watched it my family and I had a very long and interesting discussion about ponytail sex, and what was really going on when he bonded with he winged mount thing... :P

Incidentally, the one thing that doesn't seem to have been cleared up... how did you discover/choose/become aware of/whatever this Na'vi name of yours?

Post Re: Hello, Na'vi Otherkin here
Thank you, openminded. I shall send you a PM when I have the time. (:

Thank you also to ravenohaye (perhaps I could contact you also at some point) and to Firey (I understand that someone claiming what I am must seem like one of those things; however that is definitely not how I said it, so I don’t fully understand the undeservedly initially harsh reaction).

Terro, Na’vi are the most fitting species I know of and have come across so far. As I said before, I once considered myself to be (or to have been) elven. The concept of other planes is interesting, but I still consider dragons, angels and the like to be fictional, just as Na’vi are fictional. Dragons and the like permeate the cultures of the world and appear in myth and legend worldwide; but they are still fictional. Regarding the implication that all I have done is watch a movie, I have mentioned multiple times in previous posts that I have been dwelling on some other-ness in my identity and such ideas for a good few years now. Finally, I have also said before that I know Na’vi are fictional.

Thank you, Loh. Might I suggest that in introduction threads, at the very least, members be less harsh and politer to newcomers. (: Na’vi reproduction must seem like mysterious business to you all – it is a very spiritual process, indeed!

Perhaps it was divine inspiration. Perhaps what he showed us is not their exact customs and biology. Perhaps what he showed us does not exist at all, but a similar place and race might (in which case I will be alienkin, as per a theory raised in the journal of one of my members). Perhaps it came to him in a dream (I did mention earlier that one of my theories was that they will come to reclaim me – I have also however mentioned that I acknowledge that they are a fictional species, and by this I mean fictional as dragons and the like are fictional). These seem like contradicting statements; the reason for this is that this is all very abstract and subject to many things, and that there are many possibilities and as I am not all-knowing I cannot claim to be sure!

Arcticwolf, I don’t know exactly (though it is one question, not more) – how did rionquosue come up with his “draconic” name that he speaks of? I know not all ‘kin do, but I can’t be the only one with a name for my other side or true self (an idea for a topic, perhaps!) It came to me vaguely in a dream – though I know this is nothing more than me subconsciously choosing a name for myself. I like the way it sounds. Maybe I am picking up on the name my Na’vi parents gave me, who knows.

You appear pretty persistent for an otakukin. Most would be scared off by the very first page of replies. On the other hand, for a troll, you appear to be rather long-winded. Any other troll would long have thrown in the punch line and stormed out laughing on page 3 or 4.

I'm not sure what you are, really.

Hi, and welcome!

Uh, it took me a long time to read everything written here x)
5 pages it's really something for an introduction!

I myself have a really hard time to believe in the existence of Na'vi as such. But I can imagine some things that could happen here...
I can imagine that a movie could work like a trigger, if Tirea really would be something really similar to Na'vi, as well as I can imagine LoTr and Underworld working like such for some vampires, werewolves and elves)
I myself have had an example of thing similar to that happening... tho it was the other way around... there was just a sign, that was like a symbol for my race, I remembered it even before... and you can pretty much imagine, the surprise on my face, when I saw an almost identical sign in one movie (tho in there, it wasn't even a sign, and had meant really nothing, and was missing a part).
The other thing I remember, that there was really a huge number of a different elf-kin... it really could have been, that there was an elven breed (forgive me for the term) that looked like Na'vi, that would explain a lot.

Something like that... and, nice work on defending yourself, it really makes one believe in your story^^

Welcome to the forum. Though I have my own opinion concerning the matter of identifying with a completely fictional race of beings made up for the relevance of a story, I can identify with the aspect of druidism expressed thus far. However I recommend looking into other things with an open mind and straying from representing yourself as a completely fictional race. Mind you, every race represented in Otherkin is fictional in its own right and has its own bit of insanity. There is no logical foundation in the belief for anything anyone represents as Otherkin, however when one identifies with a completely fictional race the end result is the protests experienced thus far.

Beyond that enjoy yourself and chat with me if you wish. I will provide adequate amusement.

Sorry; I've thought it over and decided that the point stated is flawed. Saying that "elves are just as fictional as Na'vi" is no different from saying "You're a spiritualist, so why don't you believe in the Veil? Aren't you open-minded?" And again, I'm surprised that you would not have anticipated facing strong resistance upon joining. Just look at the fuss that Twilight caused.

You seem well adjusted, and very mellow in the face of overwhelming adversity. I respect that.

Perhaps perception of the world and oneself shapes one's soul, or maybe the universe is expansive enough to allow all these fantastic demons and dragons and Na'vi. However, I'm inclined to believe we are all afflicted with a similar mental quirk, and that the hate felt between Otakukin and Otherkin communities is no different than the hate between Baptists and Catholics. Claiming to hold the absolute truth, or even a greater portion of it than anybody else seems a bit...Well, what's the opposite of humble?

Cocky?

Elitist?

Some other third thing?

I dunno.

Regardless, I do hope you'll understand some of our positions regarding trolls. A site dedicated to something as odd as otherkin gets bombarded with its fair share of trolls. Some have been pretty obvious (Skateboard Dragon, Underwear, Mars), while others have been a bit more subtle.

I doubt you're trolling, and I don't think you're roll playing. You've taken the insults and accusations aimed in your direction, and let them pass over you without even flinching. You understand what you claim is weird, and are not deluded enough to believe that it runs even remotely close to the norm. For that, I warmly welcome you to the forum.

tl;dr
Hello

Although there are very real concepts in that movie (such as walk-ins, and the transferring of consciousness) ... I don't know how real this type of being is.

It is possible there is some sort of thing that is similar. It would have been logical for you to say "na'vi-like" or "just a tall blue alien kitty" ... but not exactly Na'vi as the language and the people of the film was invented. They had linguists on that shit fabricating it to sound good.

Anyways, I hope that you will take the time to thoroughly investigate this in yourself. You may come out to find something very interesting.

Just a random question, (I was too lazy to read all the replies so this might have been asked before but...) If you believe it is possible for there to be/have been real Na'vi or something similar, why do you so quickly reject the idea of Angels and Dragons etc...?

He actually quotes on his live journal that this site rejects anyone who isn't a dragon or elf. I suspect he's doing this for the lulz.

I disagree. I think a spiritualistic would have some understanding of why someone might believe in the veil, irrespective of whether they believe it in themselves. It's not a matter of holding that belief yourself, its about appreciating and validating the fact that someone else may have that belief.

Like the humans on this site appreciate why someone might consider themselves to be Otherkin. I see no difference.
