Post Re: LaVeyan Satanism
I consider myself as a LaVey Satanist. Since i came on this mindset (i don't like to call it a religion, i don't see why i should call it a religion since there are no 'gods') i had an iffinity with it (i think i was the age of 14?). But it's since a few months i come out for it, if i have to or think i can tell it.

Anyway, to come back on it: like i said, i call myself one. I don't find it cool or edgy & i got to much love from my parents (lol no, just to say i had a "good" home). I just find myself back in the rules & how you should act in daily life.

But, like some said here before: some of the rules seems very aggresive & i admit it's also like that. But i don't kill someone because he is just annoying me. Just a good bite & bark if (s)he annoyed me or did something in my private life (i hate it when people come messing in my rooms). Most of the time, they got the point & they run away.

It's true to a lot of people think they're cool when they're Satanist or they just do it because they're then 'dark ende evil'. But i think that's the same syndrome as with the 'goths'.

It means having the urge to wear what others wear to gain their acceptance, it means expressing an opinion others want to hear, watch the same tv shows, else you won't be able to gossip about them at the next social gathering etcetera etcetera.

Herd instinct does not mean how many people you hang around with.
This is superficial.

Hmm, yes. /Agree.

Herd mentality there is. Does this "lone wolf" or "individual" behaviour show of either evolution or decadence though? That is the question. Is it an adaptation to society perhaps?

I've read Brave New World, and total conformity is scary, if yet appealing for the fact that I never will and never can conform to society. Even though I see the happiness there is to gain in being one of the herd my own brain stops me from joining them.

I think all of us conform in a degree and in certain areas (even if we do not realize it). Else we would not be able to live in a society at all.
I believe this urge to conform is the essential contract for the creation of society and a human need related to our nature. It can never be overcome.
It is just that a few individuals always diverge from the group and move in the fringes of social acceptance (which often shifts, transforming the fringes into norm - and in this way change occurs).

I do not view it either as decadence or evolution. They are statistical edges. They are not Neanderthal leftovers, neither glimpses of the superhuman.
I think their existence is the outcome of the environment they grew up in, their personal effort and their intelligence. If they become too many, the society will loose its cohesion. If they go extinct it will become like that in the Brave New World.

My views on LaVeyan Satanism?

I have read the satanic bible over and over for almost a year now and agree with mostly whats in it. I say mostly because there is one thing i dont agree with and that is seeing death as an end.

There has to be more out there than earthly desire (though even if that is the fact i will not ignore my earthly desires)

I'm just very confused at the moment...sorry

Same here, that's the only part I don't agree with. And I have a hard time balancing my rational side and my spiritual side.

I feel while it has some merits it's also kind of an excuse to indulge some rather what I would consider to be negative character traits . I don't really consider it true Satanism either as it doesn't even aknowledge the existence of a being called Satan .
